Heartbeat of the watershed

Although more than 2 million
people visit
Kinzua Lake every
year, most  drive right by this
outstanding feature. And very
few get to see Bent Run
Waterfalls like this in its full
glory. The falls extend all the
way up the hill that is across the
road from
Kinzua Dam on Route
59 (Kinzua Road).

Its flow goes down to a
quite often and it is rare to see
it captured in a photo this way.
Bent Run is one of my favorite
short hikes in the area, full of
nooks and crannies and easy
climbing, if you have good
balance. Never made it to the
top though.
It is located about
7 miles east of Warren,
Pennsylvania on Kinzua Road
(Route 59). Access is through a
small parking lot at a bend in the
road across the street from the
tail end of the Kinzua Dam
visitors parking lot.

Be careful entering and exiting
the small parking lot which can
fill up quickly.
