It was established by Congress in 1984 and
is comprised of 23,100 acres of land around
Kinzua Lake (the Allegheny Reservoir)
inside the Allegheny National Forest and
land south of Warren PA on the west bank
of the Allegheny River.
This area yearly receives around 2
million visitors from paddlers, campers,
fishermen, boaters, hunters, hikers to
the half-million acres of Allegheny
National Forest and the Allegheny
River canyon issuing from Kinzua Dam.
